Echoes of Trauma: When Overwhelm and Disconnection Take Hold

Do you often feel on edge, hyper-aware, or uncertain about who you can trust, even with the people you care about most?

Maybe painful memories linger in the background, resurfacing when you least expect them, leaving you feeling stuck, numb, or flooded with emotion. Shame, self-doubt, or a deep sense of unworthiness may echo through your daily life, making it hard to move forward or believe in your own strength. You might notice yourself avoiding certain situations, places, or people, not out of choice, but because staying guarded feels safer. These patterns don’t mean you’re broken; they’re your nervous system’s way of protecting you.

Feel Safe Again

Whether from a single event, ongoing stress, or childhood experiences, can leave an indelible mark on your emotional world. If you lie awake at night wondering why these feelings won’t subside, the weight of trauma may be holding you back from the life you long for.

Its effects often extend beyond internal feelings, creeping into your relationships, work, or daily activities, making it feel like you’re carrying an invisible burden that no one else can see.

In our society, stigma around mental health can make it even harder to seek help. Many feel they must “push through” or minimize their experiences because they believe others have it worse. But trauma is deeply personal and affects everyone differently. Workplace burnout, systemic stressors like racism, sexism, or economic inequality, and other chronic stressors can all contribute to trauma symptoms and feelings of helplessness.

Therapy offers a place to slow down, be seen, and begin to heal. In a safe, compassionate environment, we work together to explore your experiences, understand your body’s signals, and develop strategies to rebuild safety, trust, and resilience—helping you feel grounded, empowered, and more connected to yourself and others.

  • I don't, no. so I can focus fully on you, not on insurance rules or corporate policies. This allows for higher quality care, more flexibility,  and more confidentiality.

Why? Because real healing takes time, and your story is unique. Therapy isn’t about following a script or meeting quotas, it’s about creating a space where you feel seen and understood. Staying independent allows me to tailor our work to what you truly need, without being restricted by session limits or standardized treatments. This means we can go at your pace and focus on what matters most to you.

I know that paying out-of-pocket can feel overwhelming. To help, I’m happy to provide a monthly statement (a “Superbill”) that you can submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement. I am happy to assist you through Thrizer

If the fee feels like a stretch, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I offer sliding-scale options because I believe therapy should be accessible. If you feel like we’d be a good fit, we can find a way to make it work. You're not alone in this—I’m here to support you every step of the way.

As a general rule, call your insurance company prior to our first session in order to verify out-of-network reimbursement and coverage by asking the following:

    • Does my plan include out-of-network, outpatient mental health coverage?

    • If so, what percentage of the fee do you reimburse for therapy with a licensed LMFT?

    • Do I have an annual deductible and has it been met?

    • Is there a limit to the number of sessions my plan covers per calendar year?

    • How do I submit claims?

Some carriers have been authorizing Telehealth during the COVID pandemic but intend to eventually drop this coverage. Clients must contact their plan administrator to verify that their PPO plan covers outpatient mental health via telehealth with an out-of-network provider.

    • All intake paperwork must be completed by the day before your first session. If it’s not, your appointment may be canceled and your slot released.
