Adolescent & Teen Therapy

Therapy with adolescents, teens, families, and individuals is a collaborative, supportive process designed to meet you exactly where you are. For many, emotions may feel big, unpredictable, or hard to understand. Dysregulation, anxiety, depression, trauma, and relational patterns can show up in different ways, from shutdowns and outbursts to worry, people-pleasing, or feeling disconnected from yourself or others. In therapy, we work together to gently explore these experiences with curiosity, compassion, and clarity.

With adolescents and teens, sessions often include a mix of talk, creativity, grounding strategies, and body-based awareness to help them express what’s going on internally, even when words are hard to find. We focus on building emotional regulation skills, increasing self-understanding, strengthening identity, and creating healthier coping patterns. Teens learn how to navigate friendships, school pressures, family conflict, and trauma in a supportive space where they feel genuinely seen and heard.

For families, therapy focuses on improving communication, understanding emotional triggers, and exploring the patterns that shape relationships at home. We work to strengthen connection, restore trust, and create more harmony within the family system. Parents and caregivers learn practical tools to support their child’s regulation and emotional development, while also receiving support for their own experience.

With individuals, therapy is a space to untangle old narratives, deepen self-awareness, build regulation skills, and heal from the effects of trauma or past relationships. Together, we explore what your body and emotions are trying to communicate, helping you move toward greater clarity, resilience, and connection with yourself and others.

Across all ages and stages, therapy is rooted in safety, attunement, and collaboration. Whether you’re navigating overwhelm, seeking support for your child, or wanting to break old patterns, therapy offers a grounded place to explore, heal, and grow

  • I don't, no. so I can focus fully on you, not on insurance rules or corporate policies. This allows for higher quality care, more flexibility,  and more confidentiality.

Why? Because real healing takes time, and your story is unique. Therapy isn’t about following a script or meeting quotas, it’s about creating a space where you feel seen and understood. Staying independent allows me to tailor our work to what you truly need, without being restricted by session limits or standardized treatments. This means we can go at your pace and focus on what matters most to you.

I know that paying out-of-pocket can feel overwhelming. To help, I’m happy to provide a monthly statement (a “Superbill”) that you can submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement. I am happy to assist you through Thrizer

If the fee feels like a stretch, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I offer sliding-scale options because I believe therapy should be accessible. If you feel like we’d be a good fit, we can find a way to make it work. You're not alone in this—I’m here to support you every step of the way.

As a general rule, call your insurance company prior to our first session in order to verify out-of-network reimbursement and coverage by asking the following:

    • Does my plan include out-of-network, outpatient mental health coverage?

    • If so, what percentage of the fee do you reimburse for therapy with a licensed LMFT?

    • Do I have an annual deductible and has it been met?

    • Is there a limit to the number of sessions my plan covers per calendar year?

    • How do I submit claims?

Some carriers have been authorizing Telehealth during the COVID pandemic but intend to eventually drop this coverage. Clients must contact their plan administrator to verify that their PPO plan covers outpatient mental health via telehealth with an out-of-network provider.

    • All intake paperwork must be completed by the day before your first session. If it’s not, your appointment may be canceled and your slot released.
