Relationships Are Challenging

It’s normal to face challenges in romantic relationships. Perhaps you and your partner or spouse are struggling with one or more of the following:

  • Fighting frequently or getting stuck in repetitive arguments

  • Feeling disconnected or distant from each other

  • Getting along but feeling more like roommates or co-parents than intimate partners

  • Coping with betrayal or infidelity

  • Struggling to communicate effectively and wishing you had better tools

  • Experiencing a generally satisfying relationship but wanting to feel even closer and more connected

If any of these resonate with you, know that you are not alone. Humans are wired to connect, and in modern life, our romantic relationships often serve as a primary source of connection and security. That said, relationships, especially long-term ones, don’t always come easily. Like anything that truly matters, they take work. Most long-term relationships experience rough patches, and it can be challenging to find your way back to closeness without guidance.

How Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) Can Help

This is where Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) comes in. EFT provides a roadmap out of distress and back into connection. We will first:

  1. Getting to Know You: We start by understanding your relationship history, current strengths, and challenges. What brought you together? What keeps you connected?

  2. Creating a Safe Space: In your first session, we establish a safe environment for honest communication. Arguments will not be allowed to escalate into destructive patterns—we maintain a space where meaningful dialogue can happen.

  3. Fostering Secure Attachment: EFT helps partners create or deepen a secure emotional bond. Secure attachment is the foundation of lasting intimacy and trust. When your partner is consistent, responsive, and emotionally engaged, your relationship becomes a safe haven for both of you.

  4. Individual Sessions: We also meet with each partner individually to understand your personal history, identity, and context, helping you see how these factors influence your relationship.

Why Attachment Matters

Humans are born with an innate need to connect. Just as infants rely on caregivers for safety and comfort, adults rely on partners to be accessible, responsive, and emotionally present. Our attachment system signals when we feel unsafe, which can drive conflict or disconnection in adult relationships.

Through EFT, couples learn to recognize these patterns and respond in ways that soothe rather than trigger each other’s attachment needs. This process helps partners experience security and closeness—sometimes for the first time in their lives.

A Strengths-Based, Non-Pathologizing Approach

We focus on strengths, not labels. We aim to understand you as a whole person, not just your struggles. Our goal is to help you and your partner build a resilient, connected, and loving relationship that lasts.

    Sliding Scale Option
A limited number of sliding scale spots may be available ($150–$200) for those who qualify. Please indicate interest during your consult.

  • I don't, no. so I can focus fully on you, not on insurance rules or corporate policies. This allows for higher quality care, more flexibility,  and more confidentiality.

Why? Because real healing takes time, and your story is unique. Therapy isn’t about following a script or meeting quotas, it’s about creating a space where you feel seen and understood. Staying independent allows me to tailor our work to what you truly need, without being restricted by session limits or standardized treatments. This means we can go at your pace and focus on what matters most to you.

I know that paying out-of-pocket can feel overwhelming. To help, I’m happy to provide a monthly statement (a “Superbill”) that you can submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement. I am happy to assist you through Thrizer

If the fee feels like a stretch, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I offer sliding-scale options because I believe therapy should be accessible. If you feel like we’d be a good fit, we can find a way to make it work. You're not alone in this—I’m here to support you every step of the way.

As a general rule, call your insurance company prior to our first session in order to verify out-of-network reimbursement and coverage by asking the following:

    • Does my plan include out-of-network, outpatient mental health coverage?

    • If so, what percentage of the fee do you reimburse for therapy with a licensed LMFT?

    • Do I have an annual deductible and has it been met?

    • Is there a limit to the number of sessions my plan covers per calendar year?

    • How do I submit claims?

Some carriers have been authorizing Telehealth during the COVID pandemic but intend to eventually drop this coverage. Clients must contact their plan administrator to verify that their PPO plan covers outpatient mental health via telehealth with an out-of-network provider.

    • All intake paperwork must be completed by the day before your first session. If it’s not, your appointment may be canceled and your slot released.
